From muddy mountain bike rides to midnight treadmill runs after night shift — Kylie Bell brings grit, humour, and heart to every mile she runs.
In this Delirious West 2026 intro episode, we meet Kylie: an Albany-based police officer, remedial massage therapist, and adventure-seeking endurance runner who’s taking on the 100-mile event in 2026.
From her early years in Armadale to paddling adventures with her dad, Kylie’s been wired for movement and challenge since day one. Her racing resume includes epic stage races across Morocco, Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon, plus a DIY “Everest” effort up Bluff Knoll (14 times!) — all squeezed between shift work, business ownership, and life with her fur-baby Noodle 🐾.
🎧 In this episode:
•Why Kylie left triathlon for the trail life (hint: muddy mountain bikers + beer)
•How she trained for ultras while working 10-hour night shifts (and sometimes… running to AND from work!)
•What it’s like being a detective, a runner, and a human who still loves running “for the calm”
•Why her husband says she “ruined running” for him 😂
•Her unique approach to training that involves treadmills, forced events, and “just figuring it out”
Kylie’s take on ultra-running is refreshingly real: it’s not always perfect, but it’s always worth it.

Episode 537 - MM 193 - Let your hands speak
Thursday Oct 23, 2025
Thursday Oct 23, 2025
This week’s mindful moment invites you into gentle, expressive movement with let your hands speak. Instead of using your hands for a task, take a quiet moment to move them freely—like they’re telling a story. Stretch your fingers wide, make soft fists, draw shapes in the air, or roll your wrists in slow spirals. Let your breath guide you.
There’s no right way to move—just a chance to feel what’s present and express it without words. It’s a simple yet powerful way to reconnect with your body, release tension, and invite a bit of creativity and calm into your day.
Spend just five minutes with this practice, and see how it can bring calm and clarity to your day.

This episode introduces the unstoppable Karin Ridley—a mining logistics pro by day, trail adventurer by weekend, and proud member of the Delirious W.E.S.T. 2026 crew. Karin shares how her journey began with gastric sleeve surgery and a nudge from her mum to try Parkrun, which eventually catapulted her into the world of trail ultras.
Her story is raw, hilarious, and deeply inspiring. From strength training with Susan Grover to finishing the 200-mile Delirious West solo in brutal WA heat (with no crew!), Karin walks us through the ups, downs, dirt naps, and shower stops that made her first Delirious unforgettable. And she’s doing it all again—because once you’ve seen what’s possible, you can’t unsee it.
We chat about the magic of Averley’s running community, the life-changing power of volunteers and pacers (shoutout to Justin and Shannon), and what happens when you go from “I guess I’ll try a 10K trail run” to conquering back-to-back 200-milers in a single year. Karin also shares what it’s like training with a FIFO roster, navigating nutrition post-surgery, and fitting in runs with her husband Ben—her crew chief, best friend, and rock.
Whether you’re new to trails or dreaming of going long, Karin’s story will remind you why we do this: for the adventure, the people, and the chance to find out what we’re made of.

From dodging school carnivals to smashing 400-mile races and getting married in cowboy boots – meet the unstoppable Bianca O’Neill.
In this fun and heartfelt intro episode, we kick off our monthly check-ins with Bianca as she prepares for the 2026 Delirious WEST 100-miler. But don’t be fooled – this isn’t her first rodeo (or ultra). She’s completed the 200-miler three times, earned both the 100 and 200-mile Triple Crowns, and even took on Laz Lake’s Heart of the South 400-mile journey run in the U.S. – a fully self-supported, make-it-up-as-you-go mission through six states.
Why does she keep coming back to Delirious? It’s the people. The community. The emotional finish line in Albany. And maybe… to complete her weird collection of mismatched thong/sandal/welly-boot trophies. 🩴👢
Bianca chats about:
•Her unlikely transition from horses to triathlons to ultras
•The powerful bond she shares with her mum (and frequent race partner)
•Competing with her husband for Strava supremacy 😅
•How ChatGPT became her unexpected ultra coach
•Balancing work, kids, and crazy-long runs (while planning a career shift!)
And yes—this year’s 100-miler is technically her “B-race.” The big one? Ball State in the U.S. next year. But first… the magic of Delirious.
⸻
🎧 Why You’ll Love This Episode:
•Hilarious stories from the trail (and the roadside in Tennessee)
•Honest reflections on fear, FOMO, and ultra obsession
•Real talk on training, life balance, and community
•A behind-the-scenes peek into Lazarus Lake’s wildest events
•The joy of marrying your trail partner after running 400 miles
⸻
🎯 Tips from the Trail:
•“Every race becomes training for the next one.”
•“Don’t underestimate the 100-miler—it’s a race, not a picnic!”
•“Running with mates is the secret to getting out the door.”
•“ChatGPT makes a surprisingly decent coach… if you listen!”
⸻
🛤 Next Big Adventures:
•Delirious WEST 100-Miler (Feb 2026)
•Ball State 500K Journey Run (USA)
•The mysterious “Third Circle of Hell” 🤯
•A career shift into aged & disability care in Albany

In this deeply relatable and refreshingly funny episode, we meet Eve Knudson, a Perth-based mum of two, construction estimator, and two-time Delirious W.E.S.T. 200-mile finisher who still doesn’t quite think of herself as a “real runner.”
From making fake sick notes to skip athletics at school… to tackling 200 miles of rugged WA coastline—Eve’s story is full of unexpected turns, quiet grit, and big heart. She opens up about her mental health journey, how one awkward moment in a dress shop led her to triathlon (and eventually ultra trail), and why long runs are now her version of therapy, meditation, and freedom rolled into one.
We also chat:
•💥 How running helped her ditch the meds and reclaim her energy
•👷♀️ What it’s like working in a male-dominated construction industry
•👟 Her reluctant love of early morning solo runs (and Netflix treadmill backups)
•💪 Why strength training still sucks—and how she’s squeezing in 10-minute sessions anyway
•🎯 Her goal to “just do the 100-miler without anyone pampering me”
•💛 What keeps her coming back: community, starlit trails, and that unbeatable aid station vibe
Whether you’re training for something big or just trying to juggle life with laces on—Eve’s journey will hit home.

Guest:
Jiri Halek – Czech orthodontist turned ultra-runner who once pretended to be sick to skip running… and now wakes up at 4am to run twice a day (on purpose!).
Get Ready For:
A hilarious, inspiring, and refreshingly honest conversation with a man who went from 130kg and dodging stairs to finishing some of the world’s gnarliest ultras—all while keeping his sense of humour, humility, and love for beer.
⸻
🎧 Why You’ll Love This Episode:
•The Most Relatable Start to Running Ever: Jiri’s first run was 500m. He hated it. Now he runs 200+ mile ultras and calls it “fun.”
•From Couch to Crazy: Hear how one stubborn decision to jog at uni turned into racing Badwater, Bigfoot 200, Delirious W.E.S.T, and even hallucinating golden gorillas.
•Minimal Gear, Maximum Grit: He once completed a 200-mile race with borrowed shoes and a headlamp—after the airline lost his luggage.
•Running as a Reset: Jiri uses running to unwind from work, fight off stress, and argue with his imaginary friends (we’ve all been there).
•No Numbers, Just Joy: Why Jiri ditched the stats and watches and just runs for the love of it.
⸻
🧠 Tips from Jiri:
•Start small. Like, really small. Jiri’s first “run” was 500m. “Step by step” is how you build a real habit.
•Make it a habit, not a punishment. He recommends Atomic Habits thinking—consistency over distance.
•Don’t overpack. Even for 200-mile events, he says: “Shorts, shirt, vest, headlamp. That’s it.”
•Run in bad weather. It’s good mental training and makes race day feel like a breeze.
•Find your balance. Don’t let running become your identity—let it support your life.
⸻
🌍 Next Big Adventures:
Jiri is currently prioritising family life (he recently got married and is building a new home!) but says he’ll always be a runner—and hopes to keep exploring the world one ultra at a time.

Episode 532 - MM 192 - Follow the Path of Water
Thursday Oct 16, 2025
Thursday Oct 16, 2025
This week’s mindful moment invites you to pause and observe something you interact with every day: follow the path of water. Whether you’re washing your hands, making tea, rinsing fruit, or running a bath—slow down and watch the water. Notice how it flows from the tap, slips through your fingers, or swirls into a cup. Feel its temperature, hear its rhythm, and take in the graceful way it moves.
Water becomes your mindfulness guide, reminding you to soften, to flow, and to let go. It’s a calming, sensory way to re-ground yourself—in just a few moments of everyday life.
Spend just five minutes with this practice, and see how it can bring calm and clarity to your day.

Guest:
Natalie Beasley – trail runner, accidental ultrarunner, and all-round legend of the long game.
Get Ready For:
A raw, hilarious, and deeply moving journey through the highs and lows (and the DNFs and comebacks) of a runner who proves it’s never too late—and never too messy—to chase the joy of finishing what you started.
Why You’ll Love This Episode:
•The Power of Saying Yes: From hiding under her desk to avoid lunchtime runs to crossing the Delirious West 200-mile finish line, Nat’s journey is proof that saying yes (eventually) can change your life.
•Running as Release: Discover how running helped Natalie through the grief of losing her mum—and how she now uses the trails to process life, one step at a time.
•DNFs and Determination: Nat opens up about multiple “Did Not Finish” attempts and how they taught her more than finishing ever could.
•Trail Community Magic: Hear why she fell in love with the Perth Trail Series, how pacing others ignited her own fire, and what really happens on those deep-in-the-night trail chats.
•Mental Battles on the Course: Natalie shares the exact moment she nearly quit her 200-miler… and what (or who) got her back on her feet.
Tips from the Trail:
🟢 If consistency is a struggle, commit to running with others—banter and accountability go a long way.
🟢 You don’t need to be a “perfect” runner to do epic things.
🟢 Remember: your brain lies to you. You can do more than you think.
🟢 A little caffeine (hello NoDoz!) at the right time might just turn you into Forrest Gump.
🟢 It’s okay to DNF—and it’s also okay to get back up and try again.
Next Big Adventures:
Nat’s taking a breather, running with her daughter, and letting her body (and brain) reset. But another big goal? Definitely not off the table.

Guest: Craig Jeffrey – Academic, anthropologist, ultra-runner, and 2025 Delirious W.E.S.T podium finisher (yes, he came third—solo and uncrewed - i.e. Screwed!).
Get Ready For: A refreshingly honest, intelligent, and quietly inspiring intro chat with Craig Jeffrey—who’s balancing ultra-training with academic leadership, fatherhood, and the occasional run-to-a-business-meeting-with-a-suit-in-his-backpack situation.
Why You’ll Love This Episode:
•🧠 How an anthropologist views ultra running (hint: it’s more than just km’s)
•🥉 Why Craig is back for another 200-miler after placing third in 2025
•🕒 The “sleep strategy” lessons he learned the hard way
•💼 How he fits 120K training weeks into a demanding professional life
•🧠 Deja vu, hippocampus shutdown, and why your brain might start time-traveling mid-race
•💬 “Running is how I process the world. It’s not a hobby—it’s how I live.”
Tips from the Trail:
•Don’t overthink your sleep schedule—listen to your body, not the plan.
•Train by stacking everyday runs into your commute—flexibility beats perfection.
•If you’re not “feeling fast,” shift the goal to “keep going”—and honour your training.
Follow Craig’s Journey:
Tune in each month as we catch up with Craig on his road to the 2026 Delirious W.E.S.T 200 — where he’s aiming to go faster, stay smarter, and maybe sneak in a gym session… or not.

Guest:
Nicola “Nikki” Frost – new ultra-runner, city-based trail dreamer, and daughter of podcast host Michelle Frost. (Yes, you read that right.)
Get Ready For:
What happens when your mum finishes a 200-miler and then invites you to do it with her? In this intro episode, we meet Nicola Frost, a relative newcomer to ultras who’s stepping (literally) into the wild unknown of Delirious West 2026—with her mum by her side.
Why You’ll Love This Episode:
•🏃♀️ From 15-year running break to 200-mile dreams: How Nikki went from zero to Surf Coast 100K in under 2 years—and now has her eyes on something even bigger.
•🧠 Mind over miles: Why she’s drawn to the mental game of ultrarunning and how she hopes Delirious will push her into new layers of self-awareness.
•🧭 Concrete runner goes rogue: Based in central Melbourne, Nikki’s navigating how to train for a remote trail ultra with limited access to trails.
•💬 Real talk on family dynamics: Candid banter, start-line nerves, and the question on everyone’s mind—will they still be talking at the finish line?
•💡 Bonus laughs: The origin of “Sean Kaesler miles,” falling over on tarmac, and the dream to run a relay across Europe.
Follow Nikki’s Journey:
Each month, we’ll check in with Nikki to see how she’s training, how the family dynamics are holding up, and how she’s preparing to take on the biggest adventure of her life (so far) alongside her mum.
