Alicia Gerbert joins us on the podcast all the way from Connecticut in the USA for a chat about her running journey. Sadly Alicia lost her younger sister a couple of years ago to cancer and this triggered her to start looking after herself more. So she started running and within 2 years she’d lost 60 pounds and ran 2 marathons. Alicia is loving her running and its become a big part of her identity - importantly it’s empowered her to take on other challenges in life.

Today we chat with Ben Brockman about his love of running. Ben is an Exercise Physiologist (and running coach) who has pretty much always loved to run. This episode is full of gems we can all use to improve our enjoyment of our running - including make sure your easy day is an “easy day”!
One of Ben’s pet peeves in the running world is the pressure that some people feel to always be moving onto the next thing - the next longer running distance. You can find a distance thats great for you, you don’t always need to be looking to run further - unless you know why you want/need to do that. So know your “why”, so you don’t get burnt out.

Today we speak to musician (and runner) Tim Gambles. Tim has always been surrounded by running and music - almost everyone in his family has some kind of sporting background and can play music. So it’s no wonder that Tim finds them so entwined in his life that he doesn’t believe that he would still be a musician if it wasn’t for his running! Running gives him a break, time to step away and refresh from the hard slog that is required to be a full-time musician.
Whats coming up for Tim? Well he’s off to the UK to further his musical career!

In this episode we talk with Englishman, Fergus Edwards about how he got started running ultra distance events! It was an invitation to be a part of a team in a multi-day event in the Gobi Desert in 2008 that was the start of his long distance running adventures. Since then his running hobby has taken him to some incredible places, which he’s been able to explore on foot. His favourite place to run is in the mountains. Luckily he now lives in Tasmania and has plenty of mountain running opportunities around him :)
Fergus has had a long career as an investment banker, which he has put on hold to complete a PhD on the works of Tom Stoppard (playwright) and philosopher, Ludwig Wittgenstein! This is a fascinating conversation with someone who loves to run, enjoy!
Fergus’ Running Tips - Put your trainers by the front door every night, next morning make sure you go out the door with your trainers on for at least 10 minutes (walk or run) and don’t do the same thing every time.. mix it up!
