In this episode we talk to Sue Robertson about her fabulous running journey. She started running in her early 50s and now runs ultra distance trail races with her daughter!
Sue finds running a great way to de-stress from life and just be in the bush. The trail running community has also given her a great, supportive bunch of friends and she can’t imagine not being a part of it.
Sue’s Running Tips - don’t go out too fast - slow it down, breathe and enjoy. Don’t set goals that are too big, build slowly. If you can chat you’re going fast enough.

24 year old professional middle distance track runner, Matthew Ramsden is our guest on the podcast today. He was born in South Africa, lived in New Zealand for a bit as a child and then moved to Western Australia when he was 9. Matt shares the drive that it takes to reach and run at the top. He is also about to finished a law degree, so he is a multi-talent bloke :) His running goal this year is to make the Commonwealth Games and be in the top 5!

Matt’s Running Tips - Start easy and make sure you’re enjoying it. When you’re just starting, try twenty minutes of one minute run/one minute walk. And start with a lower heart rate and try and keep it down, this will help prevent you from over doing it to begin with.

In this episode of the podcast Vlad Ixel talks about how he moved to Australia in his teens after leaving Ukraine as a very young child and living in Israel for 10 years. He started running in his mid-20s and took to it like a duck to water! Prior to covid Vlad was a sponsored athlete and found himself traveling the world racing in ultra trail runs. Now he is still racing, has a great Youtube channel full of awesome strength exercises for runner and he’s started a business with his wife developing and selling a running hydration product! Lots to learn here :)

In this episode Fiona de Wit shares how she starting running about 10 years ago after she’d signed her kids up to running club and decided she should also give it a go to. She hasn’t looked back - running is now a part of her life and she loves that it keeps her feeling strong and fit to take on what ever she feels doing.
Fiona also points out that when you become a runner you can also become a bit of a shoe collector :)
Fiona’s Running Tips - If you’re already walking, introduce a little bit of running, start small then build on it, and throw in a few stretches at the end.
