Today we speak to musician (and runner) Tim Gambles. Tim has always been surrounded by running and music - almost everyone in his family has some kind of sporting background and can play music. So it’s no wonder that Tim finds them so entwined in his life that he doesn’t believe that he would still be a musician if it wasn’t for his running! Running gives him a break, time to step away and refresh from the hard slog that is required to be a full-time musician.
Whats coming up for Tim? Well he’s off to the UK to further his musical career!
But before he leaves Tasmania he is planning a big weekend long event in Launceston from 3rd to 5th June (save the dates) - All the details and the ticket information will be out tomorrow night (13th April), so be sure to check back here (or at any of Tim's links below) and grab your tickets to Tim’s last performance in Tassie for awhile!!

In this episode we talk with Englishman, Fergus Edwards about how he got started running ultra distance events! It was an invitation to be a part of a team in a multi-day event in the Gobi Desert in 2008 that was the start of his long distance running adventures. Since then his running hobby has taken him to some incredible places, which he’s been able to explore on foot. His favourite place to run is in the mountains. Luckily he now lives in Tasmania and has plenty of mountain running opportunities around him :)
Fergus has had a long career as an investment banker, which he has put on hold to complete a PhD on the works of Tom Stoppard (playwright) and philosopher, Ludwig Wittgenstein! This is a fascinating conversation with someone who loves to run, enjoy!
Fergus’ Running Tips - Put your trainers by the front door every night, next morning make sure you go out the door with your trainers on for at least 10 minutes (walk or run) and don’t do the same thing every time.. mix it up!

Our guest on the podcast today is Stephanie Barstad - she is a physical therapist and running coach from the USA. Life is busy for Stephanie, as a mom of 2 young children, a health professional and launching her own small business, running is a great outlet! She finds running is a great way to deal with stress and anxiety that life throws at us!
That passion for running lead her to create a facebook group for beginner runners, to help and support them as they get started (or coming back to running :-)).

Todays fascinating conversation is with Kathy Mills. She was diagnosed with a thyroid condition 15 years ago, which meant that she put on weight that was impossible to budge! It wasn’t until she resorted to cycling and swimming to recover from tripping at park run 5+ years ago that the weight melted away.. Once the weight was gone her running became an enjoyable activity! In fact Kathy is now running, swimming or cycling every day and competing in triathlons. There seems to be no slowing her down :)
She puts her lack of injuries down, in part to starting regular running a little later in life - i.e. she’s not worn out yet :)
Kathy’s Running Tips - Start small - run and walk until slowly increase the running elements. Consistency is the secret.
