Just a year ago 22 year old Michael Rowcroft was on drugs and homeless! Luckily he found his way into rehab (Tumbelin farm) and there he discovered running! Michael has since run a couple of trail ultras and has decided to challenge himself with a very long run as a charity event to raise funds for Tumbelin farm! He plans in April to run a fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Lavender Federation Trail which is 325km starting in Murray Bridge going to Clare, South Australia! Michael’s Tips - choose a distance and then run/walk, find your groove and get a decent pair of sneakers and blister socks. Remember that in trail running its not about coming first.

In this episode of the podcast ultra runner Stephen Redfern shares some of his running journey. He started running 9 years ago and within the first 12 months he had run an ultra marathon (or two!). He literally hasn’t stopped running since :)
Listening to Stephen you can hear the passion he feels for distance running of all sorts - from track to road and trails! Last year he competed in a 52 day race in New York, where the aim of the race is to complete 3100miles over that 52 days. In the podcast Stephen describes how that event unfolded for him and what he learnt from it.

Stephen’s Tips - Don’t go too hard into it - easy yourself in but be committed. Go out and just enjoy it and then set some achievable goals. Make sure you have the right shoes and be open to suggestions while still adjusting it to what works for you.

In this episode Adelaide nurse Michelle Hanlin explains how running has almost taken over her life :) Michelle not only runs ultra distance trails, she also regularly volunteers, crews and is a race director! Obviously she just can’t get enough :)
Michelle is a high energy, enthusiastic person who just loves to run and be involved in running!
Michelle shares some very interesting tips including the benefit of panty liners in your bra - who knew?! LOL
She’s also found that being fitter makes her nursing easier.
And she loves that she has met some really cool people, explored some amazing places and makes healthier chooses in her life as a result of starting to run :)
