In this episode of the podcast Andrew Woodford shares his inspiring journey to running. He didn’t start running until he was 48 and the doctor said it was time to improve his health! And now 8+ years later he’s very happy that he did get fit when he did - running has given him the resilience to cope with a number of tough family & extended family situations, that otherwise might have been the straw that broke the camels back.
Like most people on the podcast he can’t imagine his life without running playing a part :)

In this episode we talk with Emmy Petersson, a Swede who lives in Melbourne and has run for fun (and health) for most of her life! When life gets busy and her head full, Emmy finds that going for a run clears her head and helps her get on with the things that are important.
Running has given her the strength to believe that what ever happens in her life she will be able to handle it (with the right help and advice).
As Emmy says, you don’t need to be perfect at running - just have fun and play with it :)

In this weeks episode we speak to Bianca Harding who is Sue Robertson’s daughter (from episode 102). Bianca started triathlon with her mum about 13 years ago - they both fell in love with the sport, competing at various distances for the next 10 years. And then they discovered distance running which lead them both to ultra trail running! Its been a journey that they’ve done together and still do, as mother and daughter, which is very cool :)
Bianca loves to have a challenge/goal to work towards and says she’s addicted to “the finish line feels”.
But as many people have noted, it’s the friends you make in the trail running community that make it so special.

In this episode we talk to Sue Robertson about her fabulous running journey. She started running in her early 50s and now runs ultra distance trail races with her daughter!
Sue finds running a great way to de-stress from life and just be in the bush. The trail running community has also given her a great, supportive bunch of friends and she can’t imagine not being a part of it.
Sue’s Running Tips - don’t go out too fast - slow it down, breathe and enjoy. Don’t set goals that are too big, build slowly. If you can chat you’re going fast enough.

24 year old professional middle distance track runner, Matthew Ramsden is our guest on the podcast today. He was born in South Africa, lived in New Zealand for a bit as a child and then moved to Western Australia when he was 9. Matt shares the drive that it takes to reach and run at the top. He is also about to finished a law degree, so he is a multi-talent bloke :) His running goal this year is to make the Commonwealth Games and be in the top 5!

Matt’s Running Tips - Start easy and make sure you’re enjoying it. When you’re just starting, try twenty minutes of one minute run/one minute walk. And start with a lower heart rate and try and keep it down, this will help prevent you from over doing it to begin with.
