Running tips from Thibault -
1. Start by listening to your body: Thibault suggests grabbing your running shoes and going for a run based on how you feel. Don't push yourself too hard in the beginning, just focus on getting started.2. Track your progress: If you're unable to measure your distance, Thibault recommends keeping track of the time spent running. Start with a specific duration, like 10 or 15 minutes, and gradually increase it as you progress.
3. Embrace variety: Thibault advises runners to keep their routines interesting by exploring different routes and distances. Don't be afraid to try new paths and challenge yourself.
4. Join a running group: Running with a group not only provides motivation but also allows you to discover new trails and learn from experienced runners. Look for local running clubs or use platforms like Strava to connect with other runners in your area.
5. Focus on enjoyment and progression: Thibault suggests sticking to a routine until it becomes too easy or boring. Only then should you consider increasing your pace or distance. Enjoy the process and let your running journey evolve naturally.

Welcome to another exciting episode of FitMIND FitBODY! Today, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the incredible George Bryant, a man whose journey with running is truly inspiring. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout his life, George discovered his love for running just four years ago, and it has become a transformative experience for him.
George's childhood was far from easy, with abuse and bullying meaning he had the constant need to fend for himself. He initially saw running as a coping mechanism, a means of escape, and even a form of self-punishment. However, over time, his relationship with running began to shift, and he realised that it was also a place for self-love and personal growth.
In our conversation, George shared how he started to enjoy running and why it became such an important part of his life. Running became more than just a physical activity; it became a tool for regulating his nervous system, reducing stress, and finding emotional balance. George's perspective on running is refreshing, emphasising the importance of the journey rather than solely focusing on the end goal.
If you're looking for motivation and inspiration, George's story is one to listen to. Tune in to FitMIND FitBODY and join us as we explore the incredible power of running and how it can positively impact your mind and body. Don't miss out on George's invaluable insights and experiences as he shares his unique journey of resilience and self-discovery through the joy of running.

1. Find ways to make running enjoyable and fun, such as creating playlists for different moods or wearing special running gear that motivates you.

3. Look for opportunities to make running a part of your everyday life, like running errands or adding physical activity during breaks.
4. Embrace the journey of running rather than focusing solely on the end goal. Recognise that there are valuable life lessons to be learned through the challenges and experiences of running.
5. Use running as a tool for regulating your nervous system, reducing stress, and promoting emotional well-being. Recognise its potential for personal growth and self-discovery.
6. Customise your running experience based on your mood or preferences, whether it's through music, podcasts, or specific routes that you enjoy.
7. Don't be afraid to create games or challenges for yourself during runs, like math games or counting flights of stairs, to keep things engaging and mentally stimulating.

Episode 236 - Running as a Source of Inspiration: Phil Beeston’s Journey
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
Tuesday Sep 19, 2023
In this episode of the podcast, I sit down with my good friend Phil Beeston to hear his running journey. Phil, born and bred in Launceston, shares how his love for running began and why he continues to lace up his shoes.
Growing up, Phil was heavily involved in basketball, despite not being the tallest person around. But it was when he started running that he truly discovered the impact it had on his physical and spiritual well-being. As a Christian, Phil found running, especially in the outdoors, as a way to connect with his faith.
Running not only helps Phil clear his head, but it also sparks creativity and ideas. Whether it's a more intense workout run with headphones in or a relaxed run without them, Phil finds himself in a state of flow where inspiration strikes. It's a time for him to let go of the noise and let his thoughts flow freely.
As a parent, Phil recognises the importance of setting a good example for his children. He enjoys having them join him for runs as a family, knowing that he's instilling the value of physical activity and showing them that running is part of their DNA. It's not just about the physical benefits, but also the mental health benefits that running provides.
Listen in to this episode to hear more about Phil's running journey, his involvement in events, and how running has become an essential tool in his toolbox for dealing with life's ups and downs.
Running tips from Phil’s -
1. Start with one step at a time: Don't overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much too soon. Take it slow and gradually increase your running distance and intensity.
2. Don't compare yourself to others: Focus on your own progress and don't worry about how fast or far others are running. Running is a personal journey, and everyone has their own pace.
3. Explore beyond the roads: Don't limit yourself to running on pavement. Venture into trail running and experience the beauty of running in natural environments.
4. Find joy in the process: Running is not just about the end goal, but also about enjoying the journey. Embrace the feeling of freedom and the mental clarity that running provides.
5. Set realistic goals: Challenge yourself, but make sure your goals are attainable. Start with small milestones and gradually work your way up to bigger achievements.
6. Listen to your body: Pay attention to any discomfort or pain. Rest when needed and don't push yourself too hard. Taking care of your body is essential for long-term running success.
These tips from Phil Beeston will help you kickstart your running journey and keep you motivated along the way. Lace up those shoes and hit the road with confidence!
