In this episode of the podcast Christopher Vos sharing his inspiring running journey. Christopher has 9 kids and runs his own business, which as you can imagine makes his life very full, so full that one day he realised his own physical health had taken a back seat for way too long! He was 5ft 11 and 180kg, when a friend said it was time he did something about it. Luckily he did because a little while after loosing some weight he had a stroke and was told if he’d still been at the 180kg weight, he likely would not have survived!
That was back in 2019 and was all the motivation Christopher needed to make sure his new health and fitness regimes became a way of life. He now priorities his physical health everyday and is reaping the rewards.

Running tips from Christopher - Find someone who can help you, pick a date that you’re going to start (and stick to it) and its not a sprint, its a marathon so take it easy on yourself.

In this episode Ben Well’s shares his love of the Tassie wilderness. Whether he’s hiking for days or running on the trails, Ben often finds himself in the wilderness exploring our natural environment! As Ben says running is a very simple pursuit, all you need is a pair of shoes before you head out the door and then it’s just one step in front of another. But it’s the running community that he values the most.

For the next few weeks I’ll be interspersing my new interviews with some of my favourite past episodes as I’m away from home and haven’t booked too many calls in :) In this flash back with the amazing Alicia Gerbert from May 2022, all the way from Connecticut in the USA for a chat about her running journey.
Sadly Alicia lost her younger sister a couple of years ago to cancer and this triggered her to start looking after herself more. So she started running and within 2 years she’d lost 60 pounds and ran 2 marathons. Alicia is loving her running and its become a big part of her identity - importantly it’s empowered her to take on other challenges in life.
Alicia’s Running Tips - Try the couch to 5k app, include strength and mobility training (a balance board).

In this flash back with the amazing Andrew Woodford from June 2022, you can really feel his enthusiasm for running (and life) despite what life throughs at him :)
He didn’t start running until he was 48 and the doctor said it was time to improve his health! And now 8+ years later he’s very happy that he did get fit when he did - running has given him the resilience to cope with a number of tough family & extended family situations, that otherwise might have been the straw that broke the camels back.
Andrew’s Running Tips - start small - run a K (ParkRun is great), walk/run & get fitted for shoes.

In this episode of the podcast ultra runner, Gareth Hinds talks about how he fell in love with trail running and especially the community that he’s found in the sport. We also dig into mediation and mindfulness and how they work together to enhance Gareth’s trail running and ultimately his life.
Gareth is off to UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc) in France to run 160km on the mountains of Chamonix. As you can imagine, training for this big event is his main focus atm. However he also talked about a new project he’s working on called Trail Nation, which combines running with other forms of wellness inside a community.
