2) Future Pacing for Motivation: use the technique of future pacing to motivate oneself to run, especially on difficult days. This involves visualising how good you'll feel after the run.
3) Preparation and Routine: preparing your running gear the night before and setting a motivational song as your alarm to help get out the door, especially when motivation is low.
4) Flexibility in Running Schedule: be flexibility in running schedules, encouraging running at different times of the day to find what works best for you.
5) Running as a Mental Exercise: try viewing running not just as physical exercise but as a mental one, where you find space to reflect and generate new ideas.
6) Incorporating Strength Training: strength training that supports your running - brings balance to your fitness routine.

In this engaging episode, we reconnect with Tim Gunton for his second check-in as he prepares for the 'Gone Nuts' Ultra Adventure Run. Tim shares his experiences and the challenges he's faced in his training since our last conversation.
Tim talks about his recent cruise trip, which, while enjoyable, presented some unique challenges for maintaining his training routine. He managed to stay active on the cruise, running around the deck and taking advantage of the onboard gym. Despite some indulgence in food and drink, Tim was able to balance relaxation with keeping up with his fitness goals.
He also describes his experience running in different environments, including a couple of runs on the islands during the cruise. These runs were a mix of walking and running, and Tim highlights how adapting to different conditions is part of his training strategy.
Tim discusses the importance of mental preparation for the race, acknowledging that there will be tough moments during the ultra-marathon. He emphasises the need to push through these challenges and maintain a positive mindset.
Looking forward, Tim plans to increase the intensity of his training with longer runs and back-to-back sessions. He also intends to incorporate night runs to prepare for the nocturnal aspects of the race. Tim's approach to training is holistic, considering not only the physical demands but also the mental and logistical aspects of preparing for an endurance event.
